Attractions & recreation

Attractions
  • 7 mile(s) from Statue of Liberty, 'The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World' was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. Employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the colossal copper statue since 1933. Access to Liberty and Ellis Islands is by Statue Cruises ferries only. Tickets are sold by type, date, and time. The first ferry departs at 9:30 a.m. and the last departs at 3:30 p.m., with extended hours in the summer and around holidays. Once on the island you can stay until the last ferry departs, which changes seasonally. The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are open every day except December 25, weather permitting. Be aware that Pedestal and Crown tickets usually sell out in advance.
  • 7 mile(s) from Intrepid Museum Complex, an educational and cultural non-profit institution centered on the aircraft carrier Intrepid. The mission of the Museum is to promote the awareness and understanding of history, science, and service through its collections, exhibitions, and programming in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.
  • 6 mile(s) from Central Park, at the very heart of New York City, is one of the most inspiring combinations of architecture, landscape design and urban planning to be found anywhere on the face of the earth. It ranks as a symbol of New York City only behind the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. Unlike these two, however, Central Park is dynamic, vibrant; a perpetually changing counterpoint to the brilliant, but static, architectural achievements that surround it. Central Park breathes. It provides a respite from the struggles that have produced the amazing city that surrounds it. It is a place to reflect, to sigh deeply and feel good about it, to let the tension ebb and allow the strictures and pressures of metropolitan enterprise loosen and unwind.
  • 6 mile(s) from The High Line, popular park 30 feet above street level on an old rail line, with river and city views.
  • 7 mile(s) from Rockefeller Center, welcome to one of New York City’s most celebrated attractions. In the heart of Midtown, steps from Times Square and the Theater District, The Rink at Rockefeller Center is a New York City tradition that everyone can enjoy. Whether you are looking for a classic NYC ice skating session or reservations for one of our exclusive wintertime experiences, you are assured magical memories that you will cherish for years to come. Reservations are available for select skating packages and as always, General Admission skating is available on a first-come, first-served basis - there are no reservations for General Admission skating.
  • 8 mile(s) from 911 Memorial, set within the footprints of the Twin Towers, the 9/11 Memorial reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest man-made waterfalls in North America. The large voids are visible reminders of the loss and absence felt by New Yorkers and around the world. On the 9/11 Memorial Plaza, there are over 400 swamp white oak trees which were selected because of their durability and unique leaf colors. The canopy of trees along with the sound of cascading water creates a reflective space, separate from the bustling sounds of New York City.
