Worth knowing
If you move to Lucerne, you will soon feel that there is a city rooted in the history of Europe on both lakeshores and along the river Reuss. The village, first guaranteed as a Benedictine abbey in the 8th century, gained its independence from the spiritual rule of the monastery of Murbach in 1178. With the development of the Gotthard in the 12th century, the small fishing village on Lake Lucerne gained in importance and came into contact with the cultures of the Mediterranean region. Thanks to its ideal location between the north and the south, Lucerne became an important place for goods transhipment and developed similarly to Zurich, Constance and Geneva.Recreation and leisure facilities
