Continuing Education in Focus: Best Western Academy 2016

Continuing education and personnel development are serious business at Best Western. The merger that formed the new Best Western Hotels Central Europe GmbH at the beginning of 2016 benefited all of the employees in the company’s approximately 230 hotels in ten countries: Germany, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. They can now take part in the continuing education and seminar programs offered at the company’s own Best Western Academy. The seminar schedule of the Best Western Academy this year encompassed more than 250 German- and English-language seminars in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, led by both internal and external trainers. Additionally, around 250 online seminars are available free of charge online in the two languages. The Academy offered topics drawn from all relevant areas of the hotel business: from hotelier fundamentals and service seminars to distribution and revenue management, to internet, online marketing, and sales seminars, and even leadership and management seminars.

Eschborn, February 2nd, 2016. Around 200 seminar topics at more than 360 seminar events in 2016: Providing employees continuing education and qualification is serious business at Best Western. Employees in all approximately 230 mid-sized private brand hotels in the ten countries Germany, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary enjoy the benefits of the company’s own Best Western Academy, which is now presenting its new 2016 seminar planner. “Continuing education motivates our employees, encouraging them to examine not just their own day-to-day work, but also their entire environment and the industry as well. Since the hotel sector and the demands it places on workers are always changing, we focus on transmitting knowledge and providing support for personal development,” explains Anke Cimbal, Director of the Best Western Academy. The institute teaches professional knowledge and leadership skills in all operational hotel areas. With its spectrum of seminars, trainings, and courses in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as many online training courses, the Best Western Academy is one of the largest continuing education institutes in the European hotel industry. The top-class seminar program offers a comprehensive selection of continuing education options for all relevant hotel areas and positions. The seminar topics in widely varied qualification fields are updated frequently to keep pace with the newest developments in the industry.

Seminars offered daily

The Best Western Academy is supporting employee training and continuing education this year with more than 250 German- and English-speaking face-to-face seminars led by internal and external trainers. These are described in detail in the current Best Western Academy seminar catalog. “We offer employees in our Best Western Hotels at least one seminar a day,” Cimbal is pleased to announce. To do so, the Best Western Academy works with renowned seminar providers and internal and external trainers. This allows the Best Western brand to lay a promising foundation for its employees’ personal qualification and ongoing professional development. Trainings don’t just take place at the Eschborn company headquarters, but are also available at locations across Germany, as well as in Switzerland and Austria. Best Western employees are also able to select from around 250 flexible online seminars and training sessions on various topics. These free, one-hour webinars don’t even require any travel costs, and employees receive effective training right from their desks. Participants can ask questions and hold discussions with the trainer via phone or through a chat function.

A full spectrum of training options

Best Western employees can take advantage of the entire seminar program offered by Performance Solutions with IFH seminars through the Best Western Academy. The Best Western Academy has been working with IFH since 2010. “Our partnership with IFH and Performance Solutions has allowed us to expand the seminars and topics we offer enormously,” Cimbal reports. The Academy was actually founded over 20 years ago under the name Best Western Training Institute. “We are continuously adapting the trainings we offer to changes on the market, and we’re always offering seminars on new topics,” says Cimbal. Today, the diverse seminar program includes topics like sales, marketing, social media, reception and reservations, F&B, yield management, and personality and leadership topics. All Best Western employees have the opportunity to take part in events with the Best Western Academy. An exclusive trainee program for high-potential young people, the Best Talents Day, also ensures that outstanding and talented young workers within the group receive special encouragement.
