Saarbrücken - Saarland's Capital
What a hotspot! Saarbrücken is not only the capital of Saarland - it's also the capital of culinary, cultural and shopping delights. As you might expect from its location, bordering on neighbouring France, Saarbrücken is a city with food on its mind, especially at St. Johanner Markt, with its numerous cafés, restaurants and bars. A shopping Mecca, the city's lively centre attracts locals and international visitors alike, especially around Bahnhofstraße and the large Europagalerie mall. Culture, too, is writ large in Saarbrücken. The Saarländisches Staatstheater stages major productions of significant works, and in the east of the city, a vibrant urban subculture has developed. Last but not least, there are the Saarland capital's many sights, such as the Saarbrücken castle, the baroque Ludwigskirche church and the idyllic Franco-German Gardens.
