Münster's history remains recognizable in the historic city center. Numerous museums and theaters give new cultural impulses time and again. And the large, renowned university is not only a productive center of science, it also provides a steady influx of young people from all over the world with more than 50,000 students. But not only the city itself, but also the nearby environment invites. The Münsterland, the park landscapes with their typical moated castles, is one of the most popular destinations for city breaks in Germany. Münster is the most liveable city in the world (LivCom Award 2004, 250,000-700,000 inhabitants). Note: From July 1, 2016 in Münster applies a tourist tax on all private hotel accommodation in the amount of 4.5% of the pure nightly rate (excluding breakfast and other eventual arrangement services) per room / night, including sales tax. The hotel is required to collect the accommodation tax from each guest staying overnight and transfer it to the city of Münster. In the case of business overnight stays, the lodging tax is not charged upon presentation of an informal certificate from the employer.
