About Hermannsburg, Südheide

Hermannsburg is a town located in a wonderful forest and heathland landscape in the middle of the southern 'Lueneburger Heide' with a history of more than 1,000 years. The village derives its name from its presumed founder Hermann Billung and a castle which probably stood in the area of today's cemetery. The city was founded around the year 940 because several small farmers and craftsmen were settled between the church and the castle. This led to the formation of a political and a church congregation at the same time. All this together became the village of Hermannsburg. Hermannsburg is divided into two parts by the 'Örtze' and the 'Örtzepark' and has 8,500 inhabitants within its five districts. The quiet location of the village and the rural surroundings offer ideal conditions for a relaxing holiday in nature. The area in and around Hermannsburg is predestined for hiking in the nature park 'Suedheide/Lueneburger Heide', bicycle tours and an excursion with a horse-drawn carriage. Whether you travel alone or with friends, use our offers to take part in one of many organized guided tours. Arrival by car

From the NORTH: A7 direction 'Hamburg-Hannover', exit 'Soltau-Süd'. Continue on B3 direction 'Bergen'. In Bergen turn left at the fourth traffic light onto 'Bahnhofstrasse/ L281' direction of 'Hermannsburg'. In Hermannsburg turn left after approx. 800 m onto 'Billingstraße'. You reach the hotel after 500 m. From the SOUTH: A7 direction 'Hannover-Hamburg', exit 'Hannover-Kirchhorst'. Keep right and follow B3 direction Celle. In Celle turn right onto B214/B3. In Groß Hehlen, turn right onto 'Scheuener Straße/L240' and follow 'Billingstraße', where you turn left. You reach the hotel after 500 m. From the EAST: A2 direction 'Berlin-Hannover', exit 'Braunschweig-Nord'. Keep right and follow signs direction 'Gifhorn/B4'. After approx. 50 km you will reach the small town of Sprakensehl where you turn left into 'Hagener Straße/ L289'. After approx. 16 km you reach Unterluess, follow 'Hermannsburger Straße' to Hermannsburg. In Hermannsburg turn right onto 'Billingstraße'. You reach the hotel after 500m. From the WEST: A2 direction 'Hannover-Berlin', exit A352 towards 'Hamburg / Hannover Airport', which leads to the A7 towards Hamburg. Keep right and take the first exit 'Mellendorf' direction Celle. In Celle turn left onto 'Wilhelm-Heinichen-Ring' and take the B214/B3 towards A7/Bremen/Nienburg. In Groß Hehlen turn right onto 'Scheuener Straße/L240' and follow until you reach 'Billingstraße', where you turn left. You will reach the hotel after 500m.
